After the water, dry before you rebuild. Then rebuild everything, once.

The first hours

Shut off the water if it comes from your side, and the electricity in the wet area. Photograph everything, with the date, before cleaning. Notify your insurer within the following days: most policies give a short deadline. Keep receipts for what you throw away.

If the leak comes from a neighbour or a common part, notify them in writing, and the building manager if there is one.

What we do

We measure and dry. Visible water goes in a day, the water in walls and screeds in several weeks. Dehumidifiers, ventilation, readings at intervals. Closing up too early means sealing the moisture in and watching the mould arrive.

We remove what is lost: waterlogged plasterboard, insulation, render coming away, swollen skirting.

We sanitise: fungicide on surfaces that stayed wet for long.

We reinstate: plastering, plasterboard, paint, floors. That is Freitas Group's trade, so one company, one quote, one end date.

For the insurer

An itemised quote, with moisture readings and dated photos, is what the insurance assessor expects. We write it that way. If the assessor wants a second visit, we are there.

What insurance generally covers: the damage from a sudden event. What it rarely covers: repairing the cause when it comes down to wear. We tell you before, not after.
